Hospital Courtyard Seating

A collection of outside bench seating designed specifically for a space of quiet reflection within the hospital. Situated within the centre atrium of the Barbara Castle Way Healthcare Centre in Blackburn. The oak  timber surfaces feature letters hand carved depicting connotations to the local area. The messages portray popular activities within local surrounding in order to engage with the visitor.

A larger centralised 'Letter Bench' features words from an actual letter sent by a patient who stayed at the hospital, aimed to reassure visitors of the experience they may have. The stamp designed by artists Emily Campbell and Lucy Hall ties with artwork featured in the interior spaces, helping to create an identity for the building.
