Hospital Playroom

The hospital playroom has been designed for the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) named the Dyson Centre in Bath. The room provides a safe and fun area for children to play in. The playroom design was developed along with children and parents to form a welcoming environment in difficult and stressful times.

The hospital playroom has been designed to maximise use of space whilst ensuring a safe play environment. Continuous coloured slices define play and seating areas, for both children and parents. Fixtures are kept to minimum or hidden and rounded edges are used across surfaces to prevent injury. The vibrant colour palette used, ties with other alcove and ceiling surfaces to create an identity for the building.
